Andrew Wallace
This studio setup shows the materials and the methodical way that Andrew works but for a better idea there are a substantial number of works from oil paintings, conceptual, books and pencil drawings on his website. |

Peter Ford
Had a great time with Peter looking through his work at his home and studio in Bristol. Visit his website to see a selection of Collagraphs and Paperworks and Printing from metal. |

Toby Wiggins
Toby is pictured in the former Dorset studio of sculptor Mary Spencer Watson which later became his own work studio. Toby uses the stove to make his own paint so it seemed an obvious to include it along with an example of his work.

Tim Andrews
This is where it all the magic happens, in his workshop at Woodbury in Devon. This was taken for a magazine article which had some examples of Tims work and an accompanying text. It was used to set the scene for the feature. Visit his website to see some fine examples of his work. www.timandrewsceramics.co.uk |

Rachael Nee
A great selection of work on view in the studio made for some interesting angles and line journeys not that dissimilar to Rachael's work.

Angela Charles - Painter
An artist studio looking just how I like it. A hive of activity showing the materials used including paints and a hair dryer which gives some insight to the technique. We just used available light and Angela's work light for this one and in the foreground you will notice a finished example.

David Cobley - Painter
With two paintings residing in the National Portrait Gallery, David is a commissioned portrait painter of some note. He painted HRH The Princess Royal in 2001 and has had many notable people from the arts, science, politicians and business.
For this portrait David is sat on the makeshift bed with pillow setup which features in many of his own portraits and also in the work in progress that you can see on the wall behind him.

Robin Rae - Artist
I took this shot of Robin through the window of his Dorset home under commission for "Evolver's - Fifty Wessex Artists book. I normally aim to include a hint to the artist finished artwork in the final photo but on this occasion decided that it was to much of a distraction. Robin is both a figurative and artist but don't just take my word for it when you can visit his website below.

David Atkins
This was the last stop of a busy day traveling to meet artists. Great selection of quality work on show and a nice open space to make use of for the portrait. I really recommend a look at the cityscapes on his website below.

Brendon Murless
One of Brendons figurative works proved to be an ideal prop for this shot taken at the studio in Symondsbury, Dorset. Brendon. For a fine collection of figerative sculptures have a browse at his website. |

Bronwen Bradshaw - Artist and print maker
It was important to me to show the nature of Bronwens work as a print maker and in this instant the portrait accompanied text and an illustration of her work so it was no so imperative to ensure a finished piece was visible in the final shot.

Georgina Fermer - Artist
Two very different portraits of Georgina fermer but both linked with the common theme of her placed within her work. The one on the left was taken for a magazine photospread featuring artist from Dorset Arts Weeks and the one on the right was one of a batch taken for a book publication.

Andrew Leppard BA Hons
This was taken at Andrews studio in Bridport. No need to say what Andrew does as everything that you need to know is contained within the actual photo.
You can see more of his work however by visiting: andrewleppardart.com |
Andrew Crane
Another pair of shots commissioned by [Evolver]. One was for the bimonthly magazine whilst the other was for the "Fifty Wessex Artist" book available from the [Evolver] website. Andrew works in mixed media including oil paint and cement.

Rose Shorrock
Highly colourful work which ou can see a hint of at the right hand side or more evidently in her colour palette on the shelves behind her.

Janette Kerr
The process of how an artist works is something that fascinates me and often shows in the resulting work. I liked the organised workshop of Somerset artist Janette Kerrs studio and ensured those neatly arranged brushes were in full view on the table on the lead in to the portrait. |

Roger Large
One of my older portraits but it is also one of my favourites. This was taken during Somerset Art Weeks and published in "The Sticks". His work has much changed direction of late as can be seen on his website. |

Patricia Volk
You never quite know what to expect when you set out to document an Art Weeks event. The was some great work on show in the studio of Wiltshire based artist Patricia Volk which gave me an excellent range of choice in composing a portrait.

Jill Kennington
One of the hardest subjects to photograph is another photographer. Luckily for me, as well as having a work held in the national portrait gallery and a pioneer in fashion photography, Jill also has experience in front of the camera and was never in danger of looking anything less than relaxed and natural for this shot. There is a fine selection of landscapes and portraits to look at on her website below.

David Knight - Industrial sound recording artist
David Knight is one half of Radiosonik. This photo shoot took place in Yeovil and yet has some of the key elements of the traditional industrial look of the classic northern town industrial bands we both loved growing up with. Have a look at his website for all of your Industrial soundscapes requirements. References include "Throbbing Gristle", "Tangerine Dream" and "Klaus Schulze" and he has many sound sample for you to play with.
